Sunday Shout-Out #1

Appie T. says: I would like to give a shout out to a few people in our town who are unsung heroes. Our community (like many small rural communities) has an over-abundance of stray/unwanted pets. This problem is compounded with limited funding and limited resources. However, there is a group of a select few people in our community who give so much of their time to find good owners for them, work to rescue them from being euthanized, take photos to get the word out, educate the community on the importance of spaying and neutering, raise funds for low cost spaying and neutering and even work tirelessly to help socialize the animals. Although there are many others whose names I don’t know or who I may not have dealt with directly, there are some ladies who have touched me and my daughter directly with their kindness and compassion toward our four-legged friends - Kay Dunaway, Anne Kelley and Mary Alnutt. My daughter has a great compassion for animals and in my efforts to teach her how best utilize this, these people have been shining examples for her to follow! Kudos to you ladies!

Sarah A. says: Phyl Gatlin is at the top of my list for amazing assets to our community, not only capturing our colorful everyday lives with fabulous photos but also laying out good old fashioned common sense in plain ol' black and white!

The Fish Peddler (Local Restaurant) says: I will start by saying that I have been here in business for eleven years feeding Thomaston folks and also people from surrounding area. I must say that these people are some of the nicest people in the world! Good manners, easy going, and polite people are getting harder to find this day in time but Thomaston is full of these people!
